Delete your account
You can delete your Lamplight account, or just a voice, at any time. This page says how, what is removed, and what is kept.
Delete everything in the app
- Open Lamplight and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete everything.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
Deletion starts at once. The app first deletes your voice copies at Inworld, then your files and database records, then your sign-in. If Inworld cannot be reached, nothing is deleted and the app asks you to try again, so a voice copy is never left behind without an account.
Delete only a voice
- Open Voices.
- Choose the voice and tap Delete.
This removes the recording, the spoken consent recording, and the voice copy from our storage and from Inworld. Your account, child profiles, and library stay. Stories already made with that voice stay until you delete them.
Delete by email
If you cannot open the app, email support@emptybar.app from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my Lamplight account". If you signed in with Apple and hid your email, say so and we will tell you how to confirm it is your account. We run the same deletion described above and reply when it is done. [confirm a response time, for example within 7 days]
What is deleted
- Your voice recordings, spoken consent recordings, and voice copies, including the copies held at Inworld.
- Every child profile, with its likes, leave-outs, people, pets, toys, and topics.
- Every story: text, summary, parent note, and audio.
- Today notes, favorites, credit ledger, plan records, and the push token if any.
- Your sign-in and email address.
Deletion in the app happens immediately. Storage and database deletion run in the same request; there is no 30-day holding period and no way to undo it. [confirm whether Supabase or Inworld keep backups for a period, and state it if so]
What is kept, and for how long
| Kept | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Consent record: the name you gave for each voice owner, the release version, the date agreed, and the date deleted. No audio. | Our record that permission was given to make the voice copy, which voice laws require us to be able to show. | 3 years after deletion, then removed automatically. |
| Reports you sent about stories, with the snapshot of the story text, unlinked from your account. | So a reported story can still be reviewed for safety. | [confirm a limit; the spec sets none] |
| A deletion log entry: what kind of deletion ran and whether it succeeded. No personal data. | Proof that deletion ran. | Indefinitely. |
| Purchase records at Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. | Held by those companies under their own policies. We do not control them. | Per their policies. |
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or you will keep being billed. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google.
Automatic deletion when an account goes quiet
- A voice copy and its recordings on a free account are deleted after 90 days without a story. On a paid plan that has lapsed, after 12 months. You can record again any time.
- Today notes are deleted after 30 days.
- Nothing else is deleted automatically. Your account, profiles, and library stay until you delete them.
